Summer’s in full swing now, Fox Fam, and what better color for bright, warm days than Neon Moon? Today we will be featuring this vivid shade that glows in UV light! Whether you wear it alone, pair it with other UV reactive colors, or mix it to create an all-new shade, we have some of our best tips and tricks for getting the most out of this versatile shade.
is one of our very brightest shades as a cool-toned highlighter yellow. Even Cosmic Sunshine
isn’t quite as bright as this neon color! Because it’s a bright color, it’s also more on the light side and will turn out best on pre-lightened hair. The lighter your base, the brighter the color will be, so for the most intense yellow make sure your hair is lightened to a level 9 or even lighter! Since yellows are fairly light, it probably won’t show at all on hair much darker than this, and definitely wouldn’t be able to tint hair getting darker than a medium to the dark blonde range. The UV glow will show up most vividly on pre-lightened hair too, so for Neon Moon
, the lighter the base the better!
While this vivid yellow definitely turns heads all on its own, it’s also one of our most flexible mixers for a wide variety of bright neon tones! In fact, Neon Moon
is one of the key ingredients in that slime/acid green shade you’ve probably seen trending all year. Get this iconic shade using a base of Neon Moon
and a small dollop of Iris Green
! Or, for a more lime-toned neon shade, try a few drops of Aquamarine
mixed in your Neon Moon
instead. This shade also works as a great base for warmer tones; get a bright peachy hue that’s still fully UV reactive by using Neon Moon
mixed with Porange
, or mix with Electric Paradise
for a pink sherbet color!
All these mixes will help preserve the UV reactivity of the color, but if keeping that UV glow isn’t your priority, you have a ton of other options too! You can experiment with different shades of neon orange by adding some Sunset Orange or even Poison into your Neon Moon. Or, for a pastel rose gold, use a base of Arctic Mist diluter and add a few drops each of Neon Moon and Virgin Pink.
Having trouble with this shade? Neon Moon will turn out best on a clean, light blonde base, so getting your hair as light as you can before applying the color will always give you the most accurate and vibrant results. Plus, the lighter your base color the brighter the UV reactivity will glow! If your glow seems to be fading, touch up the color since the glow is directly related to the brightness of the color!
