STRAND TEST
Strand Test
Preview your color results before full application
🧪 Why Do a Strand Test?
Everyone's hair is unique! A strand test shows you exactly how the color will look on your hair before you commit to a full application. This helps you decide if you need to pre-lighten, adjust the shade, or mix colors for your perfect result.
How to Perform a Strand Test
Step 1: Prepare Your Hair
Shampoo and fully dry your hair. Do NOT use conditioner - clean, dry hair ensures accurate test results.
Step 2: Select Test Strands
Choose approximately 1-inch sections of hair in a hidden area (like underneath or behind your ear). This way, if you don't love the result, it won't be visible!
Step 3: Apply the Color
Evenly distribute Arctic Fox hair color to the selected test strands, working it through until it becomes frothy. Make sure every strand is fully saturated.
Step 4: Protect & Process
Wrap the test strands with aluminum foil to protect surrounding hair and let the color process for at least 30 minutes. For more intense color, you can leave it longer!
Step 5: Rinse Carefully
Rinse the test strands with cool water, away from your face, until the water runs clear. Cool water helps seal in the color.
Step 6: Evaluate the Results
Dry your hair and check the color outcome. This is your chance to see exactly how the shade looks on your hair!
💡 What If the Color Isn't What You Expected?
No worries! Here are your options:
- Pre-lighten your hair - For bright, vibrant results that match the bottle swatch, you may need to lighten your hair first
- Choose a different shade - Try another Arctic Fox color that better suits your base hair color
- Dilute for pastels - Mix with Arctic Mist or conditioner to create lighter, softer shades
- Mix colors - Combine different Arctic Fox shades to create your custom color
- Repeat the test - Try different options until you find your perfect match!
✨ Pro Tips
- Test multiple strands if you have different hair textures or colors
- Take photos of your test results to compare different shades
- Keep notes on processing time and color combinations
- Remember: darker base hair = more subtle results, lighter base hair = more vibrant results
